"Strange Attractor" was the second Fractal Music project I produced. It was pretty much an evolution of the ideas followed in the making of "A Garden of Earthly Delights".
In "Strange Attractor", we used an expanded variety of fractal types including IFS, Mandlebrot, Julia sets, and more sophisticated data stream processing, all created by Brian Winge.
"Strange Attractor" was recorded in the Santa Monica apartment of Keyboardist Chris Rhyne on a fostex 16 track tape machine. We were using a Mac IIci I think for the sequencing and data stream creation. This is also the era I discovered Photoshop. The cover of the CD is a Mandlebrot fractal all "artified". I wanted to capture the sense that fractal processes are what underlie living processes, thus the "galactic amoeba".
I did most of the arranging, editing and mixing. Chris Rhyne did his usual amazing Keyboard performances and there was a guy named ARA playing all kinds of percussion and flutes. He was really good too.
